The Albanian Riviera seen from the coastal road, with bays and headlands running south

Albanian Riviera transfers — private taxi journeys along the southern coast

The Albanian Riviera runs from the Llogara Pass down to Sarandë: a single coastal road linking villages that are close together on a map and awkward to travel between in practice. We cover that road as private transfers, from short beach runs to full-length coastal journeys.

Why the Riviera is hard to travel without a car

The villages along this coast each sit in their own bay or on their own hillside, separated by headlands and connected by one winding road. Bus services exist, but they are seasonal, infrequent, and they stop on the main road — which is often several hundred metres above the beach and the accommodation.

Hiring a car solves some of that and creates other problems: parking near the beaches is genuinely difficult in July and August, and the mountain sections are demanding if you are not used to them.

A private transfer is the middle option. You get door-to-door travel on your own timing, without parking, without a timetable, and without driving the Llogara Pass yourself after a flight.

Types of Riviera journey

  • Village-to-village transfers

Single journeys between two points on the coast, with luggage, for travellers changing accommodation mid-trip.

  • Beach transfers

Out in the morning, collected at an agreed time in the afternoon or evening — including the bays that need a drive plus a short walk.

  • A vehicle for the day

A driver for a set period with stops where you choose, for visitors who want to see several villages without booking each leg separately.

  • Long-distance connections

Riviera to Tirana, the airport, Gjirokastër, Berat and other destinations beyond the coast.

The coast from north to south

Palasë is the first village below the Llogara Pass, with a wide bay and a long beach. Dhërmi follows: the old village high on the slope, with Dhërmi Beach and Drymades below and the hidden cove at Gjipe to the south.

Vuno sits on the hillside above the road, a compact stone village with the bay at Jal below it. Himarë is next and is the largest settlement on the Riviera, with a harbour, a castle hill and beaches on both sides.

South of Himarë, Qeparo splits between an old village on the hill and a newer settlement by the sea. Borsh has one of the longest beaches on the coast, backed by olive groves and the remains of a hilltop castle. Beyond that the road turns inland before Sarandë, the Riviera's southern city and the port for Corfu.

Plan a Riviera transfer

Tell us the villages you want to move between and the dates, and we will put together the journeys.

What to send us

  • Where we pick you up — a hotel, apartment, beach or airport terminal
  • Where you are going
  • The date and the time
  • How many passengers, including children
  • How much luggage, and anything bulky
  • A flight number, if you are arriving or departing

Send those details and we reply with the vehicle, the price and the pickup arrangement. Nothing is booked until we confirm it.

We use your details only to arrange your journey. Nothing is stored on this website.

Our vehicles on the coast road

Group size and luggage decide the vehicle. For transfers between accommodation, tell us the number of suitcases as well as passengers.

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Our main car: a black E-Class saloon with a leather interior, licensed as a taxi and used for everything from a run down to the beach to the long transfer to Tirana airport.

    Passenger van

For groups and families travelling with luggage, where a saloon would not have the space. Tell us your numbers when you book and we will confirm whether the van is the right vehicle and whether it is free.

Frequently asked questions

Can you cover several Riviera villages in one day?

Yes. A vehicle and driver booked for a set period, with stops where you want them, is a common arrangement for visitors who want to see more than one bay. Tell us what you have in mind and we will confirm what fits.

Do you transfer luggage between accommodation on the Riviera?

Yes, and it is one of the more common bookings we take. Give us the number of suitcases as well as passengers so we send a vehicle with the space.

Which beaches can you drive to directly?

Most of the main beaches have road access, though some sit at the bottom of steep descents and a few — Gjipe in particular — need a walk at the end. We will tell you exactly where we can take you before you book.

Do you serve villages not listed on this site?

Possibly. The pages here cover the destinations we are asked for most often. Send us your route and we will tell you plainly whether we can cover it.

Is it better to hire a car or book transfers?

It depends on your trip. A car suits long stays with a lot of independent movement; transfers suit shorter stays, groups with luggage, evenings out, and anyone who would rather not drive the Llogara Pass or hunt for beach parking in August.
