Taxi to Jale Beach — transfers down to the bay at Jal
Jal sits in a sheltered bay below the village of Vuno, reached by a descent from the main coastal road. There is no walking it comfortably from anywhere else on the Riviera, which makes it one of the beaches people most often need a taxi for.
Getting to Jal
The turn for Jal leaves the coastal road near Vuno and drops towards the sea. It is a short distance in kilometres and a significant one in height — the kind of descent that is pleasant in a vehicle and punishing on foot with a cool box.
The bay itself is pebble, enclosed by hillsides, with beach bars and places to eat along the shore in season. Boats run from here to the smaller coves nearby, which is one reason visitors stay all day and want a pickup rather than a return walk.
We drive to Jal from Dhërmi, Vuno, Himarë and the rest of the northern Riviera. In high season the access road and the parking area both get busy, which is worth knowing if you were planning to drive yourself.

Jal stays busy after dark in season. A pre-arranged return avoids the climb back up to the main road.
Agree the return before you go down
Mobile coverage in the bay can be patchy and in August vehicles are in demand across the whole coast. Fixing a pickup time and point when we drop you off is much more reliable than calling for a ride at the end of the day.
